One Year of Blogging: Memories Made, Lessons Learned & Giveaways Too

image

Has it really been a year? It seems like only yesterday I got this crazy idea to jump into the book blogosphere. I honestly never thought it would become a thriving hobby that I spend so much time on. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. Sharing my passion for books has always been a top priority in both my career and personal life and this has been the best experience so far.

Hopeful Reads currently has 201 blog followers from WordPress, Email, and Bloglovin. I’ve made 250 posts on here and receive around 500 to 600 views per month. My Twitter followers number 347 and on Instagram it’s 119. I just love bringing reviews, Top 5 Wednesdays, special features and so much more to people across the internet.

Memories Made

Over the course of this year I’ve made some pretty incredible memories. From going to my first ever author signing and attending Book Expo America in May to connecting with fellow book lovers online and IRL. Author events have become a new favorite of mine and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Victoria Schwab, Susan Dennard, Elise Kova, Rainbow Rowell, Maggie Stiefvater, and that’s just events is my area!

I’ve met some incredible bloggers along the way and cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Including the likes of Jamie (Books and Ladders), Sarah (The YA Book Traveler), Jessi (Goldilox and the Three Weres) and my BEA family Brittany (Book Rambles), Stefani (Caught Read Handed), Melanie (One Less Lonely Blog), and Michelle (Dreaming of Alba).

Online I’ve participated in countless Twitter chats, talking books and meeting new people weekly. Discovering new blog features to be a part of and joining street teams that I’m passionate about. I’ve even delved into bookstagram, finally putting my Instagram to good use. It’s been fun taking different pics, participating in monthly challenges, and getting better at the photography aspects.

Lessons Learned

With starting a new endeavor there are always going to be problems and difficulties that you come up against but the only way to grow is learn and adapt with every new instance. For me I had never created a blog before so figuring the ins and outs of WordPress was an important first step. Even now I’m discovering new options and changes that can be made.

I’ve also discovered that the blogging community has its own problems just like any other fandom. I try to avoid the drama as much as possible but think it’s important to engage in honest conversation. Regardless of all the controversies I’ve learned that the book blogging community is a strong, caring body that looks out for each other and I’m glad to be a part of it.

Thank You

First and foremost big shout out to every single person who is currently following my blog! To each and every one of you who likes, reads, and comments on my posts. To my friends, family, and coworkers who know about Hopeful Reads and support me in all that I do. To the authors and publishers willing to take a chance on me. To all of the interactions, seeing and hearing everyone’s thoughts, the encouragement and love. Thank you so much!
