I acquired this ARC from the publisher. This does not impact my thoughts and opinions in any way.

Wanted: One roommate to share a 3-bedroom house, split the rent, and ideally not be the guy I can’t stop thinking about.
I’m a man with too many secrets, so the last thing I need is a new roommate with a sexy smile and blue eyes that see right through me. Eight years ago, Roderick left town after high school. We’re not friends. I owe him nothing. But back then, I let one of my secrets slip, and he’s the only one who noticed.
Part of me knows I should run far, far away. But the other part wants him to come upstairs and spend the night. But if I let him in, I could lose everything.

Seeking: A room to rent in town. I’m tidy, have no pets, and I will feed you homemade bread.
I should probably add: Gay AF, and has no filter. It’s no wonder my new landlord is so wary of me.
A smarter man would ignore those hot glances from Kieran Shipley. The broody lumberjack wants more from me than another homemade pretzel, but if I push my luck, I’ll end up back on the street.
Too bad I’ve never been smart with my heart…

Sarina Bowen brings us back to Vermont and the world of True North with her newest offering Roommate which follows Kieran Shipley and Rodrick Waites. If this is your first foray into Bowen’s books, don’t let this series world scare you. This book can definitely be read as a standalone since the True North universe is so easy to jump into at any point. For longtime readers though, you’ll see many familiar faces and locales that make the heart jump for joy.

Rodrick is such a genuinely honest, talented, and funny guy always taking care with others. When it came to family and exes though he experienced so much heartbreak and pain. Kieran is constantly working, pulling double duty at home for his brother while also maintaining multiple side jobs. He’s the quiet one in a large, passionate extended Shipley family but getting to see the inner workings of him with his parents and brother added more complexity to the novel.

The connection between Kieran and Rodrick is undeniable and as they slowly come to know each other the tension ramps up. From accidental touches at the Busy Bean to cooking lessons in their shared home, a sweet and sexy romance is simmering right below the surface. Once the emotions boil over, the heat definitely turns up around the house. It was so thrilling to see how intensely Kieran and Rodrick cared for each other and fought for each other.

Overall Roommate was another excellent romance from Sarina Bowen. With two characters like Kieran and Rodrick, readers will be hard pressed to find a more dynamic pairing. They both struggled with their own personal upheaval but were able to find each other and forge a new path. A very sexy path I might add. Plus there’s an innumerable amount of baked goods mentioned that will have you craving a little something sweet or savory.

Have you read any of the True North novels? Will Roommate be your first?
