The mission was a failure. Even though Zivah and Dineas discovered a secret that could bring down the empire, their information is useless without proof. Now, with their cover blown and their quest abandoned, their only remaining hope is to get home before Ampara brings the full might of its armies against their peoples.

As Shidadi and Dara alike prepare for war, Zivah and Dineas grapple with the toll of their time in the capital. After fighting alongside the Amparans against his own kin, can Dineas convince the Shidadi—and himself—where his loyalties lie? After betraying her healer’s vows in Sehmar City, can Zivah find a way to redeem herself—especially when the Dara ask her to do the unthinkable? And after reluctantly falling in love, what will the two do with their lingering feelings, now that the Dineas from Sehmar City is gone forever? Time is running out for all of them, but especially Zivah whose plague symptoms surface once again. Now, she must decide how she’ll define the life she has left.

SST Review & Giveaway: Internet Famous by Danika Stone

Today I’m happy to bring you a review of Internet Famous by Danika Stone for the SST Blog Tour. Check out my thoughts and all the details below!

InternetFamousInternet Famous by Danika Stone

Published by Swoon Reads on June 6, 2017

Genres: Young Adult, Fiction, Contemporary, Romance

I acquired this ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. This does not impact my thoughts and opinions in any way.

High school senior and internet sensation Madison Nakama seems to have it all: a happy family, good grades, and a massive online following for her pop-culture blog. But when her mother suddenly abandons the family, Madi finds herself struggling to keep up with all of her commitments.

Fandom to the rescue! As her online fans band together to help, an online/offline flirtation sparks with Laurent, a French exchange student. Their internet romance—played out in the comments section of her MadLibs blog—attracts the attention of an internet troll who threatens the separation of Madi’s real and online personas. With her carefully constructed life unraveling, Madi must uncover the hacker’s identity before he can do any more damage, or risk losing the people she loves the most… Laurent included.

Last year I discovered the wonderful talent that is Danika Stone through the Sunday Street Team and I couldn’t pass up the chance to read and review her newest release, Internet Famous. Madi is a big time blogger but has to keep her real life separate. When both crash together, things begin to unravel and a troll lurking in the shadows comes out of hiding.

Madi is an absolutely endearing character. She’s witty, smart, and totally passionate. She takes on so much and has a hard time connecting IRL. Laurent, my utterly charming French boy who’s good with a camera, stole so many scenes. And the two of them together was such a joy to read. I also really liked Madi’s sister, Sarah, and the familial bond between them.

The online community can be a magical place. Connecting with people who are passionate about the same things, sharing this joy far and wide, and making lasting impressions on those you’ve never met. All this can be seen first hand through Madi’s eyes. Unfortunately with the good comes the bad and online harassment has gotten worse and worse. Stone shows the extremes from persistent attacks to actual doxxing.

I did have a few issues with this story, mostly in regards to the family aspects. First of all, what mother screws up the schedule of her autistic child, for her own selfish goals. Not to mention leaving most of her care to her other underage daughter. Plus the father was completely non existent when it came to parenting. Madi had to handle everything on her own and that really grated on me.

Overall Internet Famous by Danika Stone was an adorable and clever story that highlighted both the good and the bad of the online community. Madi and Laurent were ridiculously sweet and I totally connected with the two of them. Plenty of swoons were had but I did have a few minor issues along the way. If you’re looking for a cute romance with a dose of reality, this one is definitely for you.

To celebrate the upcoming release of the second book in the Loom Saga, The Dragons of Nova, Elise has decided to release bonus content delving deeper into this new world to coincide with the read-along taking place from May 8 – May 31. The Alchemists of Loom

Loom Saga #1

January 10, 2017

Keymaster Press

Her vengeance. His vision.

Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.

Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.

When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.

He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom. Continue reading

Ocean breeze in her hair and sand between her toes, Anise can’t wait to spend the summer before her senior year surfing and hanging out on the beach with friends. Santa Cruz is more than her home-it’s her heart. But when her aunt, a single mother, is in a serious car accident, Anise must say goodbye to California to help care for her three young cousins.

Landlocked Nebraska is the last place Anise wants to be. Sure, she loves her family, but it’s hard to put her past behind her when she’s living in the childhood house of the mother who abandoned her. And with every Instagram post, her friends back home feel further away.

Then she meets Lincoln, a charismatic, one-armed skater who challenges her to swap her surfboard for a skateboard. Because sometimes the only way to find your footing is to let go.

How do you choose names for your characters?

For the most part they just come to me, but every now and then I end up scrolling through lists of names trying to find the perfect match. Usually when I see the right name it clicks instantly.

What is your go to reward for hitting a deadline?

A break! And finally catching up on my TBR! I love marathon-ing a bunch of books after a deadline because it’s often really hard to keep up with my reading when I’m in the writing zone.

Plotter or Pantser?

A little bit of both but I definitely lean towards pantser. I’ll usually have a vague idea of the big picture but only outline a few chapters at a time. Once I actually write those few chapters I have a better sense of what the next few will look like and so on.

What are some of your favorite books?

Always an impossible question! My favorite genre is YA Contemporary, but I read all genres too. Some recent favorite reads are THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED, THE HATE U GIVE, WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI, and UNDER ROSE-TAINTED SKIES.

How do you spend your free time? Any hobbies?

I used to love going to concerts, and I hope to be able to do so again. Same with walking nature trails. I’ve recently gotten into stationary and sending letters to my friends and family

Favorite foods?

Sushi! Also sushi! Then probably Mexican, Thai, and like really good salads (not just iceberg lettuce and a cherry tomato haha).

Favorite travel destinations?
I love the beach and the mountains – just getting away and decompressing. But I’ve also loved traveling to big cities with tons of museums and epic food.

Thanks so much Laura for answering my questions! Continue reading

My Review

Jessa has spent her life dreaming of other worlds and writing down stories more interesting than her own, until the day her favorite character, Finn, suddenly shows up and invites her out for coffee. After the requisite nervous breakdown, Jessa learns that she and Finn are Travelers, born with the ability to slide through reflections and dreams into alternate realities. But it’s not all steampunk pirates and fantasy lifestyles—Jessa is dying over and over again, in every reality, and Finn is determined that this time, he’s going to stop it…This Jessa is going to live.

Interview with L.E. DeLano

How did the idea for Traveler come about?

When I was eight we were living in England, and I watched an old version of “Alice Through The Looking Glass” on TV (it was the 1974 version, which was really creepy). I happened to pass a mirror afterward and thought it would be cool if there was another ‘me’ on the other side. I stared at my reflection for a long time until – I swear to you – I saw the other me blink. It scared me a lot to the point that I still get a creepy feeling if I catch my reflection out of the corner of my eye. Continue reading
