The Crystal Tour: Air Awakens & Living that Library Life

CT-Banner-2

With the release of Crystal Crowned almost upon us, it’s time to celebrate this wonderful series that Elise Kova has created. If you didn’t already know, it’s a YA Fantasy series consisting of five books: Air Awakens, Fire Falling, Earth’s End, Water’s Wrath, and Crystal Crowned.

And what better way to highlight these beautiful books then with a massive blog and review tour organized by the author herself running from June 9 through July 12. Since I adore this series so much, I’m going to be doing a post inspired by each book. So let’s have some fun!

I was first pulled into the Air Awakens series by lots of hype on Twitter but what really sold me was that Vhalla, the main character, was a library apprentice. With just this little bit of information I was already connected to the story. Vhalla and I share a common bond, you see, the two of us relying on the written word not only as a passion but as a form of employment. That’s why I’m sharing my library journey with you today!

I grew up a reader so I spent quite a lot of time in the library as a child. Luckily it was just a short block away, only five houses down to be exact. I’ve had the same hometown library since the age of like 5 but the departments still remain in the same locations even though shelves have swapped spots and there has been a renovation or two over the years. I feel as if it has changed and grown just as I have.

The Chasm

They survived The Island, but can they cross The Chasm?

Four months after Prince Galian was discovered alive on a remote island, he’s adjusting slowly to life at the hospital under the Kylaen media’s glare. His promises to Theo remain unfulfilled as fear of his father keeps him from taking concrete action. And the more he learns about the machinations in Kylae, the less sure he is that it’s possible to make a difference.

Across the great Madion Sea, Major Theo Kallistrate struggles to navigate the tricky political waters of Rave’s presidential staff. To make positive change for her people, she must remain relevant and interesting to the Raven media and to the president. Release Day Bonanza & Giveaway ~ April 26

Every once in a while it feels like publishers and authors conspire against us, the readers, to bombard us with a ridiculous amount of book releases all on the same day. Or maybe that’s actually every week but oh well. Today, April 26, is definitely one of those days though. I have five titles that I have been over the moon excited for and they are all out now!

It’s no surprise that all five are fantasy titles and quite a few are part of a series. There’s a sequel, one debut, two indies, and one’s a finale. Check out all these amazing books below and stick around for a giveaway at the end!

The Star-Touched Queen

My Review

Fate and fortune. Power and passion. What does it take to be the queen of a kingdom when you’re only seventeen?

Maya is cursed. With a horoscope that promises a marriage of Death and Destruction, she has earned only the scorn and fear of her father’s kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her whole world is torn apart when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. Soon Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Neither roles are what she expected: As Akaran’s queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar’s wife, she finds something else entirely: Compassion. Protection. Desire…

But Akaran has its own secrets — thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Soon, Maya suspects her life is in danger. Yet who, besides her husband, can she trust? With the fate of the human and Otherworldly realms hanging in the balance, Maya must unravel an ancient mystery that spans reincarnated lives to save those she loves the most. . .including herself.

About the Author

S. Usher Evans is an author, blogger, and witty banter aficionado. Born in Pensacola, Florida, she left the sleepy town behind for the fast-paced world of Washington, D.C.. There, she somehow landed jobs with BBC, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Television before finally settling into a “real job” as an IT consultant. After a quarter life crisis at age 27, she decided consulting was for the birds and rekindled a childhood passion for writing novels. She sold everything she owned and moved back to Pensacola, where she currently resides with her two dogs, Zoe and Mr. Biscuit.

Evans is the author of the Razia series and Empath, both published by Sun’s Golden Ray Publishing.

She’s the first female ruler of her territory in generations, but her people are rioting and call for her violent younger twin brother to take the throne. Eros is a rebel soldier hated by aliens and human alike for being a half-blood. Yet that doesn’t stop him from defending his people, at least until Kora’s soldiers raze his camp and take him captive. He’s given an ultimatum: be an enslaved bodyguard to Kora, or be executed for his true identity—a secret kept even from him.

When Kora and Eros are framed for the attempted assassination of her betrothed, they flee. Six Month Blogaversary & Giveaway

6Versary

I cannot believe I’ve been blogging for six months already. I started my blog kind of out of the blue after discovering a few that really caught my eye back in July. I wanted to delve deeper into the book community and all of its amazingness and blogging felt like the best possible way. WordPress made it so easy to quickly set up a site and start posting almost immediately. My first post, a haul, went up on August 3, 2015.

It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I’ve connected with so many wonderful individuals through Twitter and blogs, participated in plenty of chats and street teams. This community is so welcoming and wonderful even when issues do arise. It’s great to be apart of something like that. I even discover so many new books and authors now.

Since I’ve started blogging, I’m more critical when I’m reading, analyzing plot points and characters, worldbuilding and writing. I even feel like I read more, there is an urgency now even larger than before. I’m still reading for fun but now I get to share my experiences and opinions with so many other book lovers. It’s a win, win!

To celebrate the occasion and give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has followed and supported me so far, I’ve got two giveaways going on!

The first one is for one book of your choice, under $15, from Book Depository. As long as Book Depository ships to your country, you are eligible to enter.

Enter here: a Rafflecopter giveaway

The second giveaway is for a signed paperback copy of A Darker Shade of Magic and a set of four art cards. This one is US only.
