TBR Time! ~ June 2019

As I’d like to be more intentional with the books I’m reading and to hopefully cut down the stacks of unread books I have on my shelves, I’m doing monthly TBR posts.

TBR Time

May’s reading went well but I still had to carry over two titles to June’s TBR. Let’s see if I can get through all seven of these this month.

#RamadanReadathon 2019

ramadan-readathon-2019

Hello all! I’m excited to be participating in Ramadan Readathon again this year. It starts May 6th and runs through June 4th. The purpose of this challenge is to promote and read books by Muslim authors during the holy month of Ramadan. There is both a reading challenge and Instagram challenge so check out all the details HERE and follow @MuslimReadathon on Twitter and Instagram for updates. Plus you can use #RamadanReadathon to share your own progress and recommendations!

Reading Challenge

ramadan-readathon-bingo

This year the reading challenge is based on this fabulous bingo board that is themed around the five pillars of Islam. As the arrows point out, the idea is to choose a column or two and start from the bottom and work your way up. I picked the pillar of Sawm (fasting) and my TBR track is below. I’m starting with We Hunt the Flame which is one of my most anticipated titles of the year!

TBR Time! ~ May 2019

As I’d like to be more intentional with the books I’m reading and to hopefully cut down the stacks of unread books I have on my shelves, I’m doing monthly TBR posts.

TBR Time

April got a little off track with a bunch of unexpected romance reads and I’ve been trying to catch up.May is heavy with new releases so I’m zoning in on those  as well as my owned books. Here’s hoping I do better!

TBR Time! ~ March 2019

As I’d like to be more intentional with the books I’m reading and to hopefully cut down the stacks of unread books I have on my shelves, I’m doing monthly TBR posts.

TBR Time

For February I finished six of the eight I had picked for my TBR and started number seven. I’m sticking with eight yet again since it’s a solid number and leaves a little leeway for my mood.

TBR Time! ~ February 2019

As I’d like to be more intentional with the books I’m reading and to hopefully cut down the stacks of unread books I have on my shelves, I’m doing monthly TBR posts.

TBR Time

Well I managed to get seven out of eight picks read from my January TBR so I guess I’ll just keep picking a smaller number so I still have some room to play with. With that being said, here’s the titles I plan to read in February.

Top 5 Wednesday: Top of my TBR

top 5 wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey on Youtube) as a way for book reviewers and lovers to share their love of lists every Wednesday. Check out the Goodreads group.

  1. King of Scars
  2. Hired
  3. The Kingdom of Copper
  4. For a Muse of Fire
  5. The Lost Sisters

My Top 5 Wednesday post today is a mix of the old, new, and upcoming as it’s celebrating the top of my TBR. In just a few days I’ll finally be able to read King of Scars and obviously I’m super hyped. I also need to read Hired so I can review it and Kingdom of Copper so I can suffer like readers everywhere. I also desperately need to get to For a Muse of Fire and after finishing The Wicked King I need a little more Holly Black action with The Lost Sisters.

What’s on the top of your TBR? Do we have any common titles?

Beat the Backlist 2019 ~ TBR

BTBBanner_TransparentBG

It’s that time of year again when readers rue the piles of unread books that have accumulated over the year and vow to finally get to them. Cue Beat the Backlist, a reading challenge created by NovelKnight to lessen the burden of all those older titles. The rules are simple! Books, published in 2018 or earlier, have to be read (start to finish) in 2019 according to your local time. All the details can be found in NovelKnight’s intro post HERE along with some fun extras.

 TBR

  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
  • The Frangipani Hotel by Violet Kupersmith
  • The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley
  • Circe by Madeline Miller
  • If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson
  • The Defiant by Lesley Livingston
  • The Phoenix Empress by K. Arsenault Rivera
  • Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
  • Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones
  • Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy
  • Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson
  • Scythe by Neal Shusterman
  • Thrawn by Timothy Zahn
  • Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
  • Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
  • Akata Warrior by Nnedi Okorafor
  • Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
  • A Sorrow Fierce and Falling by Jessica Cluess
  • From Unseen Fire by Cass Morris
  • The Lost Sisters by Holly Black

I’ll be setting myself a goal of reading 20 titles at the very least for 2019 and while I really want to get to the books above, this list definitely isn’t set in stone. Fingers crossed I can finish even more as my unread TBR is currently out of control!

Are you participating in Beat the Backlist? Interested in knocking down your TBR?
