Life, Etc.

It’s been a while friends!!! I may have fallen off from blogging consistently for the past month and a bit but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been reading or keeping up on all things bookish. Work and life have kept me incredibly busy as I’ve taken on many new responsibilities at the library and am now the Assistant Manager of our branch. It’s an exciting and wild opportunity that I hope works out well to say the least.

As far as the blog goes I want to keep up with it as much as possible so I’m going to cut back from five days to three. That should give me enough freedom to post reviews and a few fun things from time to time. In terms of reading I’m trying to catch up on my ever growing TBR since it’s grown to massive proportions which is entirely my fault. Especially before the busy fall book season comes around.

How did May and June go for you? Any exciting news or adventures?

Life, Etc.

Honestly time is moving way to fast. I’m managing to keep up on the reading front despite adding a bunch of last minute book club pics and an unplanned romance binge, my TBR plan went out the window. With that being said I did read 17 titles so I’m not slowing down on that front. I also got to attend another author event featuring two debuts and host a murder mystery dinner for the library. On the screens front I binged She-Ra Season 2 and have seen Avengers: Endgame twice. I’m also keeping up with the final season of Jane the Virgin.

How was your April? Did you read or do anything exciting?

Honestly I don’t have much to say for March. Not a lot going on besides work and reading. I did get to see Victoria Schwab in Columbus (check out Thursday’s post for more details) but other than that it’s been a balancing act between stress and relaxation. I’m still making my way through The Clone Wars on Netflix and hope to finish before it gets taken off April 7. Plus Jane the Virgin is back for it’s final season.

How did your March go? Do anything exciting or just holed up at home?

When will the madness end?

February felt more stressful than normal with lots of ongoing stuff at work coming to a head. With programming for summer reading needed on the calendar already to the build up to the open house and culmination of this long renovation; needless to say it’s been a lot. There are promising things on the horizon though and lots of fun programs to look forward to.

Reading (and Reese’s) are what have kept me going and I was able to finish another 13 titles for February. It was an odd assortment but I ended up loving most of them. In terms of television, I’ve been watching The Good Place and Medici on Netflix as well as binge watching Season 2 of The Dragon Prince. I’m also keeping up with This Is Us.

How was your February? What do you think March will have in store for us?

Life, Etc.

Well this year is just chugging along already. As you can see I’m trying a little something new with my month in review as I highlight faves from across multiple platforms. With the winter weather finally arriving and freezing temps set to break records, it’s been a very indoorsy couple of weeks. At least that means lots of reading time and boy was it a wonderful month with some exquisite new releases and surprise backlist titles. I’ve actually been able to squeeze in workout time everyday as well; doing daily yoga and hitting Planet Fitness three times a week. Work has been wild with renovation stuff wrapping up and we’ve finally got new furniture which looks amazing.  Here’s hoping February rocks just as much!

How has January played out for you? Any exciting events take place?

How is it possible that another year is almost gone? 2018 has felt both fast and long at the same time with lots of ups and downs personally as well as with the world. December though has been rather good with some time off to relax and work that has felt rewarding. The renovation is finally coming together and I’ve spent a lot of time shifting books into their final positions.

In terms of reading I’ve picked up a few highly anticipated titles as well as a back log of comics and holiday romances. For television I’ve watched all my fave holiday flicks as well as the final season of Voltron, finished the latest season of Call the Midwife on Netflix, and a lot of Doctor Who reruns. Christmas was a relaxing affair as always with just my mom and brothers for present opening and dinner.

How did your December pan out? Was it ridiculously busy or were you able to relax?

As November wraps up I have to get my head around the fact that there’s only one month left in 2018. Part of me wants to say good riddance but who knows what’s in store for the new year. My reading once again was pretty solid but I still veered from my chosen TBR. Plus I plowed through a whole epic Sci-Fi trilogy so that was fun.

At work I got to host a Harry Potter escape room which was pretty darn cool and the adults/teens who participated definitely enjoyed it. Thankfully the Thanksgiving holiday was a nice little break and I’ve been prepping presents for #TBTBSanta as well as family and friends. Plus I’ve been able to watch Poldark, Crazy Rich Asians, and a few Netflix Christmas movies.

How was your November? Ready for the last month of the year?

October was possibly the busiest month of the year for me with multiple trips and off days at work. Thankfully though it was probably the most fun I’ve had all year! It’s amazing what engaging with the world can do for my soul. Plus I managed to read twelve titles and I adored pretty much every single one. Blogging was the only thing that fell by the wayside but luckily most of renovation at home is over.

My two trips were wonderful adventures for different reasons. The first on was to Kansas City for my cousin’s wedding and it was just great to be around extended family. The second trip was to Colorado for Sirens Conference and the experience was incredible. I’ll have a post delving into more details of that week but it was pretty much phenomenal. The rest of the month has been me just soaking up the season.

How was October for you? Any exciting adventures?

September was a strange month. My excitement for Autumn was in full force but the wait of the world and work seemed to dampen my spirits. Also the home renovation is finally wrapping up. Over the past couple months, my reading has been slowing down and I keep picking up romances to keep me going. I’m hoping October will mark a turning point as it’s my favorite month of the year and I’ve got lots of things planned over the course of the next four weeks. Plus the fall book releases have been epic, my TBR is overflowing, and my reading flow has started to rejuvenate.

How was your September? Any exciting plans for the upcoming month?

Ah yes August is coming to an end and now my favorite time of the year approaches. Bring on all the Fall things! Seriously this summer has been busy/stressful with some excitement thrown in and I’m ready for the happiness that Autumn brings me. Work has been a lot and the renovation started on my house. There seems to be no time to relax anymore. At least I got to see Hamilton at the beginning of the month!

I did manage to knock out twelve books this month and it was heavy on the romance titles. I think I’ll be diving back into more fantasy and scifi though with all the new releases coming out in the last part of the year. I’ve been watching lots of Netflix and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was freaking brilliant. I will watch it over and over forever. I’m also continuing my Clone Wars rewatch but it’s slow going.

How was your August? Are you ready for Fall?
