Reading Challenge

ramadan-readathon-bingo

This year the reading challenge is based on this fabulous bingo board that is themed around the five pillars of Islam. As the arrows point out, the idea is to choose a column or two and start from the bottom and work your way up. I picked the pillar of Sawm (fasting) and my TBR track is below. I’m starting with We Hunt the Flame which is one of my most anticipated titles of the year!

Beat the Backlist 2019 ~ TBR

BTBBanner_TransparentBG

It’s that time of year again when readers rue the piles of unread books that have accumulated over the year and vow to finally get to them. Cue Beat the Backlist, a reading challenge created by NovelKnight to lessen the burden of all those older titles. The rules are simple! Books, published in 2018 or earlier, have to be read (start to finish) in 2019 according to your local time. All the details can be found in NovelKnight’s intro post HERE along with some fun extras.

 TBR

  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
  • The Frangipani Hotel by Violet Kupersmith
  • The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley
  • Circe by Madeline Miller
  • If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson
  • The Defiant by Lesley Livingston
  • The Phoenix Empress by K. Arsenault Rivera
  • Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
  • Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones
  • Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy
  • Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson
  • Scythe by Neal Shusterman
  • Thrawn by Timothy Zahn
  • Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
  • Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
  • Akata Warrior by Nnedi Okorafor
  • Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
  • A Sorrow Fierce and Falling by Jessica Cluess
  • From Unseen Fire by Cass Morris
  • The Lost Sisters by Holly Black

I’ll be setting myself a goal of reading 20 titles at the very least for 2019 and while I really want to get to the books above, this list definitely isn’t set in stone. Fingers crossed I can finish even more as my unread TBR is currently out of control!

The Reading Quest Recap

Hello all! I’ve got a Reading Quest recap for you today. The Reading Quest, a readathon based off video game quests, was created by Aentee from Read at Midnight and ended on September 10. I thought I’d give all of you a final update on how I did and what I completed.

Reading Quest Character Card Final

I managed to finish all the quests on the Mage path coming in with a total experience of 125 points leaving me at a Level 2 with an HP of 232.

I didn’t manage to complete anymore side quests since my last update so I only got to these three:

The Reading Quest ~ Update

Hello all! I’m here with a little Reading Quest update. If you’re not sure what The Reading Quest is all about check out the informational post over at Read at Midnight. Aentee has crafted an enthralling readathon for book lovers inspired by video game adventures. It started August 13 and runs through September 10.

Reading Quest Character Card Update

As of today I’ve nearly reached the Level 3 mark as I’m currently at 95 EXP points and my health points are sitting at 143 HP. Down below is all of the challenges I’ve completed so far and my math for both experience and health points.

I’ve got two more books until I complete my Mage quest. I did have to change one title after DNFing a book, but the updated list is here with stars next to the titles I’ve finished.

I’ve also got a list of the Side Quests I’ve currently completed.

Reading Quest Character Card

Once again Aentee from Read at Midnight has crafted an enthralling readathon for book lovers far and wide to be a part of. It’s a video game inspired adventure called The Reading Quest that runs from August 13 through September 10. Check out the sign up post HERE and join in on all the fun!

THE BASICS

There are two important things to note for this challenge. First there are four different paths to follow within the game and the one you follow is determined by character class. The four options are knight, bard, rogue, and mage and only you can choose which one suits your fancy.

 the-reading-quest-character-classes

The descriptions for each character are listed above and their color coordinated paths can be found below on the bingo board. Also note that the central blue squares are side quests that can be completed as well.

The other big thing to note is that points can be accumulated while reading/participating in the challenge. This allows you to gain experience and eventually level up your character. All those details can be found in the sign up post. I’ve chosen to begin my journey as a mage so check out what I’m reading below!

P.S. Huge shout out to Aentee for the wonderful graphics and CW at Read Think Ponder for the character art.

#TomeTopple Readathon ~ TBR

IMG_3349

From April 7-20, I’ll be participating in my first Tome Topple Readathon. Hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on Youtube, this readathon is all about diving into those big books on your shelves. The only true rule to it is that the book needs to be over 500 pages long. There’s also a few challenges to inspire participants:

Challenges

Read More Than One Tome
Read a Graphic Novel
Read a Tome That’s Part of a Series
Buddy Read a Tome
Read an Adult Novel

All of the details can be found HERE in the description of Sam’s video. This includes all of the co-hosts as well as the Goodreads group.

TBR

My priorities are The Final Empire and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue but if I have time I’d like to fit in Habibi.

So does this sound like a fun readathon to you? Want to participate? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!
